On May 11, Party Committee Secretary of Shanghai Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee Chen Kehong, and Secretary-General of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission Wang Congchun, leading the 16-member working group on comprehensive reform and inspection of Shanghai education visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of medicine, inspected comprehensive education reform work, and took the lead to visit Shanghai Institute of Immunology. Party Committee Secretary Fan Xianqun, Dean Chen Guoqiang of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of medicine, and Party Committee Secretary of School of Basic Medicine Chen Hong, Dean of School of Basic Medicine Xu Tianle accompanied this visit.
Director of Shanghai Institute of Immunology, Su Bing, addressed a warm welcome for the coming to visit and guidance work, and accompanied the working group to visit open labs on the 12th floor, Flow Cytometry Core, Imaging Core, PI offices and students’ lounges, and so on. While the visit, Director Su Bing introduced the design concept of research space, which transforming originally group-basic layout into open space that is better for convenient scientific communication, and creates good atmosphere and environment for scientific research work. Then, Director Su Bing briefly reported that, in recent years, through implementation series of reform initiatives, SII has made a stage progress in top talent recruitment, research innovation, platform construction, cooperation and communication, and other aspects. And he highlighted progress situation in that, as academic SAR, SII firstly implemented a system mechanism reform program in talent introduction and employment, scientific assessment, discipline construction, and other aspects. In addition, he stated that during the construction of talent-driven and innovation-driven academic SAR, limited available space is one of the constraints, hoped that, as a dominant characteristic discipline, immune discipline could get continuous long-term support in space and funding from Shanghai and School of Medicine.
Last, Director Su Bing expressed sincerely thanks to Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine for their vigorously support in development of Institute of Immunology. He said that Institute of Immunology will actively seize academic SAR policy bonus of School of Medicine, full well play leading role as reform vanguard and development pioneer, value training mode of innovative talent, further advance evaluation system reform of research and education, constantly enhance subject features advantage and innovation breakthrough capacity, promote release of sci-tech innovation resources and vitality by comprehensive innovation of system, effectively promote "Highland Heights" construction of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, to build leading immunology research in South China, with internationally cutting-edge thinking research educational institution and possess scientific research and technology platform in internationally advanced level.
