On June 24, the 4th Sino-German Online Symposium 2022, jointly organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology / Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and International Medical College University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, was successfully held. The keynote topic of the forum was “Oral Rehabilitation,” and the meeting was chaired by Prof. Ulrich Joos, Scientific Director of International Medical College University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.
During the meeting, Prof. Xinquan Jiang, Executive Dean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology, and Prof. Chi Yang, Vice Dean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology, delivered speeches. Prof. Xinquan Jiang said that the Sino-German Forum has been successfully held three times before, and he hoped that the two parties could spark discussion in order to improve the standard of multidisciplinary clinical treatment in dentistry and further promote bilateral cooperation and discipline construction. Prof. Jiang ended his speech by wishing the forum a success. Vice Dean Chi Yang also welcomed the participants and hoped that they could gain valuable experience from the forum.
Subsequently, both Chinese and foreign experts made presentations in turn. Dr. Xiaogang Pan, Dr. Shujiao Qian, Dr. Wenjie Zhou and Dr. Jiachen Dong from Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology shared new technologies related to clinical treatment. They proceeded to fully demonstrate the application of digital implantation, aesthetic dental restoration, and periodontal regeneration treatment in the development of dentistry in China, which won the attention and praise of overseas colleagues and participants.
Prof. Jurgen Manhart, Prof. Dirk Wiechmann, Dr. Kenneth Lau and Dr. Christoph Runte, who were invited by Duisburg-Essen University IMC International Medical College, also shared their practical achievements regarding new technologies and aesthetic restorative concepts.
Duisburg-Essen University IMC International Medical College in Germany is our overseas partner for the “Belt and Road Initiative,” and in recent years, both parties have conducted a series of academic exchanges involving both clinical and teaching fields. This symposium was held in the form of a live online broadcast, and more than 1,000 dentists locally and abroad enthusiastically participated in this event, which brought conceptual updates and inspiration to promote the in-depth cooperation regarding international clinical dentistry and education. The symposium also provided a platform for mutual improvement between Chinese and European academics and also laid a solid foundation for further in-depth cooperation between the two parties in the future.
