THE first batch of 243 doctors from local neighborhood health
centers started to receive one-year training at the Medical School
of Shanghai Jiao Tong University from this week to improve the
city’s grassroots medical capability.
They will receive training on general medicine, rehabilitation,
disease prevention and health care, primary clinical cases, medical
ethics and communication between doctors and patients and community
health management. They will also practice and rotate in leading
hospitals and other neighborhood health centers skilled in general
physician service.
According to the city’s 2030 health plan, the city should have
over 10,000 licensed GPs in 2030, while there is only some 5,000
now. Jiao Tong’s medical school will lead GP training to give
further education to improve local GP qualification.
This batch of doctors will receive standardized GP training and
participate in the test afterwards.
