Shanghai Institute of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases

The Shanghai Institute of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases was established in 1979. It allocates full funds to public institutions. The higher authorities are the Medical College of Shanghai Jiaotong University. The responsibility of this institute is to engage in basic research of clinical medicine, carry out high-level scientific research, train high-level medical talents, and serve for disease prevention and treatment. At present, the Institute has formed a strong comprehensive advantage of disciplines, bases and teams, undertook a number of national scientific research projects, obtained a number of scientific research results, trained a number of high-level talents, and gathered a number of outstanding young and middle-aged scholars. For the basic research base of the National Clinical Medical Research Center, the key disciplines of the State, the first-class disciplines of Shanghai, the Key Laboratory of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases of the Ministry of Health and the Key Laboratory of Shanghai, the two academic journals are sponsored by the State Clinical Medical Research Center. The Chinese Journal of Endocrine Metabolism is the most influential academic journal of endocrine and metabolism in China entrusted by the Chinese Medical Association. Diabetes is the only academic journal included by SCI in China (the impact factor is 2.4949). Clinical Endocrinology Laboratory is the only professional endocrinology laboratory in China that has passed the certification of American Pathologists Association (CAP).

The Institute has developed a system of systemic biology of endocrine and metabolic diseases based on transformational medicine. While concreting the two directions of clinical diagnosis and treatment of hereditary endocrine and metabolic diseases, as well as the pathogenesis and epidemiology of chronic non-infectious metabolic diseases, the Institute focuses on the construction of a system of clinical diagnosis, prevention, early warning and research of endocrine and metabolic diseases. The system further relies on the specialized public service platform for clinical research and the collaborative research network to carry out large-scale, prospective, multi-center, high-quality clinical diagnosis and treatment normative research. This Research Institute has formed a team with reasonable echelon levels, united and striving, vigorous and innovative ability. The Institute undertakes 203 projects at all levels, totaling 1328.655 million yuan, of which 150 are at the national level, totaling 117.3203 million yuan. SCI published 211 academic papers, with a total score of 714 and 2293 citations; 44 papers with more than 5 points, with a total score of 324.177; 3 second-class prizes for national scientific and technological progress and one second-class prize for national natural science; 12 patents have been authorized. Build the largest 4.5 million biological sample bank of single center in the world.

The Institute has 55 employees and 39 employees. At present, it has formed a strong academic echelon, with well-known endocrinologists at home and abroad, and has a high academic status. At present, the Institute has 4 senior titles, 9 vice senior titles and 22 intermediate titles, including 21 doctors and 5 masters, and 72 postgraduates.

The subject leader is Ningguang, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, chief scientist of 973, specially appointed professor of Yangtze River scholars. Deputy Dean of Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Medical College of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Director of Key Laboratory of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Ministry of Health, Director of National Center for Clinical Medicine of Metabolic Diseases, Former Chairman of Endocrinology Society of Chinese Medical Association, President of Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism. He has been engaged in clinical and scientific research of endocrine and metabolic diseases for a long time, and has made great achievements in the diagnosis and treatment of hereditary endocrine diseases, adrenal diseases and diabetes mellitus. He has won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress three times.

The Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism (CJEM) is a high-end academic journal authorized by the Shanghai Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolism Diseases by the Chinese Medical Association, which reflects the latest clinical and basic research results in the field of endocrine and metabolism in contemporary China. CJEM has been awarded the Excellent Journal Award of the Chinese Association of Sciences, and has been awarded the Excellent Journal of the Chinese Medical Association for many times. He is currently Professor Ning Guang, Editor-in-Chief. In the process of running the magazine, the magazine adheres to the importance of academics and gradually forms its own characteristics. This magazine has been included in Chemical Extract (CA), TOXCENTER and Western Pacific Medical Index (WPRIM). It is included in VIP, CNKI, CAJCED, CSCD, CJFD, China's core journals (selection) and other databases. On September 26, 2014, the Chinese Institute of Scientific and Technological Information held a "Statistical Result Conference of Chinese Scientific and Technological Papers" in Beijing. The Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism was selected as the third Chinese Quality Science and Technology Journal and the international Top Quality Science and Technology Journal (a total of 300 kinds). The comprehensive evaluation ranked first in the subjects of "Endocrinology and Metabolism, Rheumatology". Since its first edition, the magazine has been listed in three consecutive Chinese and international high-quality sci-tech journals, and ranked first in the discipline for three consecutive times.

Journal of Diabetes was co-founded by the Institute and Wiley-Blackwell, a well-known international journal publishing group, in 2009. Professor Ningguang and Professor Zachary Bloomgarden of Mount Sinai Medical College in the United States were co-editors, and supported by the Endocrinology Society of the Chinese Medical Association and the Endocrinology and Metabolism Medical Association of the Chinese Medical Association. Journal of Diabetes is the first international English journal focusing on diabetes in China. It is the result of the cooperation of experts from the East and the West. It is committed to introducing the latest achievements of Chinese diabetes doctors and researchers to the International Diabetes academia. At the same time, it timely introduces the latest international research results to China and promotes the further development of diabetes research. In July 2013, the first influencing factor of Journal of Diabetes was released, reaching 2.939, which is another milestone since it was included in MEDLINE in June 2010.

In response to the 13th Five-Year Plan, the Institute will strengthen the construction of medical science and technology innovation system, strive to build itself into a plateau of clinical medicine and transformational research, and operate in accordance with the international operation mode in terms of operation mechanism, mode of thinking and concept, clinical diagnosis and treatment technology and scientific research ideas and methods, so as to become an open, innovative and energetic research institute. In this way, we can grasp the development trend of international endocrinology, establish our own characteristics, and become a clinical medical research institution with its own characteristics that can participate in international competition.
