从果子狸来源的SARS病毒、在中国大陆快速蔓延防控依然严峻的非洲猪瘟、到当前正在肆虐的COVID-19，让我们充分意识到保障动物健康和动物源性食品安全，不但与人民群众身体健康息息相关，还关乎国家生物、生态环境和公共卫生安全。“健康动物-健康食品-健康人类”三者已然成为一个密不可分的整体。正是基于“One World, One Health”这一全健康理念，本系依托崇明研究基地，聚焦“动物健康”和“动物源性食品安全”两大核心，对猪牛羊等大动物、鸡鸭鸽等禽类、鱼虾蟹等水产养殖动物、以及迁徙候鸟等野生动物全覆盖，重点围绕重要动物疫病防控、新发再发人兽共患病控制、动物源性耐药菌和耐药基因传播机制、动物及相关食品病原体快检和保障制品安全新技术、噬菌体等新型减抗绿色生物制剂的开发与利用，确保“从农场到餐桌”，全产业链动物及食品安全管控和健康有序发展，为我国畜禽业的持续健康发展和食品安全提供强有力的科技支撑。
