Dr. Clausen studied in Molecular Biology at Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen University in Germany during 1986-1993. He later received PhD degree in laboratory of Prof. Dr. Klaus Rajewsky in Institute for Genetics at University of Cologne. From 1998-2000 he joined laboratory of Cellular Physiology and Immunology in the Rockefeller University as a Post-doc, worked under mentorship of Prof. Dr. Ralph M. Steinman (2011 Nobel Prize Laureate). In 2001, he became group leader and principal investigator in department of Cell Biology and Histology in Academic Medical Center at University of Amsterdam. He was then recruited as Associate Professor in University Medical Center. Since 2013, he became professor and vice chair of the Institute for Molecular Medicine at University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz in Germany.
