After completing the JPD research activity and satisfying all the associated requirements (in particular, the fulfilment of the course credits, qualifying exam, and the committee’s positive evaluation of the thesis work), the students will submit and defend their dissertation to their joint PhD committee according to the required procedures of the home university.

The thesis will be written in English according to the requirements of the respective institutions for awarding of a PhD degree, with an abstract provided in language of the home institution.

The thesis defence will be held at one institution in the presence of the two co-supervisors and will be conducted according to the rules and regulations of both universities. The defence committee will consist of at least five members, including 3 experts from home university, and 2 members from the Partner institution.
