In order to strengthen the deep integration of basic and clinical, and promote the cross-disciplinary integration, the "Basic and Clinical Docking Exchange Meeting" held by Songjiang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Songjiang Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine was held in the academic lecture hall on the afternoon of December 07. Duan Shumin, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dean of Songjiang Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Xu Tianle, executive dean of Songjiang Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Party and government leaders of Songjiang Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, director of clinical department of the whole hospital, Songjiang Research Institute PI, double PI and staff attended the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Lin Weidong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of Songjiang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine.

Academician Duan Shumin, president of Songjiang Research Institute, stressed at the meeting that the construction of hospitals and research institutes cannot be separated from personnel training and disciplinary development, and the cross-integration of basic and clinical is particularly important, which needs to promote each other and coordinate development. Since its establishment, Songjiang Research Institute has recruited nearly 20 young PI and 12 excellent double PI. At present, the main research direction of Songjiang Research Institute is neuroscience, and the connection between the brain and the whole body organs is taken as the starting point for the exchange of scientific research thinking, which helps PI to provide help for clinical departments in terms of scientific research ideas and provides a good role of "guiding". PI should give full play to its academic leading role, sink clinical departments, strengthen the cooperation and exchange between basic research and clinical experts, actively carry out clinical problem-oriented scientific research, and work hard to practice internal skills and persevere. It is hoped that all PI and clinical experts will take this promotion activity as an opportunity to strengthen communication and enhance understanding, achieve point-to-point docking, jointly seek cooperation and development opportunities, and achieve real results.

At the meeting, Professor Xu Tianle introduced the PI and double PI research groups of Songjiang Research Institute, as well as the research direction and scientific research achievements. The young PIs of Songjiang Research Institute have shown excellent core competitiveness since their entry. They cut in from different angles such as neural circuits, cell clusters, molecular tags, and specific signals, and their research direction is not limited to brain science, neural metabolism, neural immunity and other multidisciplinary "open branches", and have achieved many scientific research achievements, achieving a "zero" breakthrough of Songjiang Research Institute. He proposed that the construction of the integration of Songjiang Hospital and Songjiang Research Institute should be driven by high-quality innovative scientific research to help accelerate the progress of medical treatment. It is expected that in the process of communication between PI and clinicians, there will be unexpected surprises through the collision of thinking sparks between basic and clinical disciplines.

The directors of the clinical department of Songjiang Hospital also introduced the scientific research overview, scientific research needs and future scientific research plans of their departments at the meeting.

Subsequently, PI and clinicians of the Institute conducted in-depth discussions on the further cross-integration of disciplinary development and personnel training, initially formed a good atmosphere for the combination of basic and clinical, and reached an initial intention of scientific research cooperation. President Lin Weidong said that through the joint efforts of all staff of Songjiang Hospital and Songjiang Research Institute, it will be able to comprehensively enhance the core competitiveness and comprehensive strength of hospital scientific research and development, provide sustainable scientific research impetus, and effectively promote the high-quality integration construction of Songjiang Hospital and Songjiang Research Institute.
