The AOCMF Fellowship Center was established in 2011 at the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Medicine. AO is the most advanced scientific research institution and academic group globally for traumatic orthopedic internal fixation theory and related surgical techniques. Since 2003, the AOCMF has held AO workshops in China every year to spread and promote the theory of craniomaxillofacial fixation and surgical techniques. Professor Shen Guofang and Professor Zhang Chenping in our hospital have served as the chairman of the China region. The present chairman of China is Professor Ji Tong. AO has set up several training centers worldwide to undertake the training of physicians in various countries. The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine has undergone rigorous assessments. Its clinical and academic standards have been recognized internationally, and it takes responsibility for training more than 20 international students who come from Europe, America, Africa, and Asia.

The Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is the first International Training Center for the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS) Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery Training Fellowship Program in China. Founded in 1960, the IAOMS is the most authoritative academic group in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the world. The fellows come to our hospital for comprehensive oral tumor treatment and reconstruction training. At present, they have trained specialists from Singapore, Spain, Norway, Greece, Nigeria, and other countries. These specialists have successively carried out microscopy and reconstruction work after returning to their units and reported the Shanghai training center on the international oral and maxillofacial surgery official website.

Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital Head and Neck and Maxillofacial Oncology Center, Training Center for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, is the world's first head and neck and maxillofacial reconstruction training center for British Overseas. Founded in 1505, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is one of the oldest and most well-known surgical specialist training organizations globally. It has set up a specialist training system, curriculum, and evaluation criteria. The surgical training department was established in 2013 and aimed at supporting and promoting the training of surgeons, annual meetings, evaluation, and so on at three levels (fellows, members, and associates). Professor Ian K. Ritchie, President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, attended the unveiling ceremony. In his speech, the Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, as the top hospital in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, was also at the forefront of the standardization and institutionalization of the training of oral and maxillofacial surgeons in China; the training in Shanghai was the same. The establishment of this training center has enhanced the opportunities for oral and maxillofacial surgery in mainland China to communicate with the UK and played an active role in standardizing the training of international surgeons.

In May 2018, the Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine--Orthodontics Clinical Diploma Training Center and Orthodontics Examination Center for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was established in the scientific research center of our hospital.

Founded in 1505, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is one of the oldest and best-known specialist training management institutions in the world. In 1989, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh introduced the qualification examination for orthodontics specialists and academicians. Since then, it has gradually established a complete and objective examination question bank and examination sorting system, which has become the qualification examination for orthodontic specialists in the Commonwealth and European countries, and is currently one of the only two orthodontic specialist qualification certification examination systems in the world. The examination center of our hospital is the only examination center in the Asia-Pacific region. It has more than 10 examinees from Asia-Pacific and Europe, including Malaysia, India, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Greece. The annual examination also invites professors from domestic stomatology schools with Edinburgh orthodontic qualifications to serve as examiners and observers. As a bridge, the examination center has played a remarkable role in promoting the qualification certification and evaluation of our hospital to participate in international orthodontic specialists, and improving the international reputation of our hospital for orthodontics. At the same time, it promotes establishing the education and training model and certification system for our orthodontic specialists, aiming to standardize our teaching. We will use the "Orthodontics Clinical Diploma Training Center" to establish international training courses, export the Chinese orthodontic training model gradually, and establish our international brand to promote the development of the entire discipline.

The Sino-German Oral Training Center (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Sub-center) was officially inaugurated in the Ninth Hospital in November 2019. The center is jointly established by the International Medical College, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University College of Stomatology. The IMC University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, was established in 2003 and headed by Ulrich Joos, the then Dean of the School of Stomatology at the University of Münster and Director of the Clinical Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Professor Joos is the former chairman of the European Association of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, the former chairman of the German Association of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery, the founder of the German Surgical Foundation, the founder of the German IMC Union University, and the chairman of the Master of Dentistry Committee. Several famous universities around the world, including the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, the Technical University of Dresden, the University of Saarland, and the University of Szeged in Hungary, have successively joined the IMC joint school system and established a dental medicine internet network to promote stomatology education, innovate teaching concepts, and comply with the EU education integration program. In 2004, the German Accreditation Committee obtained the AQAS certification from the EU Ministry of Education. Since 2018, the joint school master's program has cooperated with the University of Duisburg-Essen to issue joint school degree diplomas jointly. The University of Duisburg-Essen is committed to research in molecular medicine, medical biotechnology, and medical management, and is now one of the top 10 universities in Germany. Oral majors include implantology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontal disease, cosmetic restoration, orthodontics, and advanced general dentistry. The establishment of the Sino-German Oral Training Center has provided a new teaching practice platform and development opportunity to cultivate stomatology talents in our country. It will more effectively promote the reform of stomatology education in our country, effectively improve the quality of stomatology personnel training in China, and promote the education globalization of stomatology in China.
