Chen Guoqiang, MD, PhD, is a professor at Renji Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He is also an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and serves as director of the State Key Laboratory of Oncogenes and Related Genes.
Chen has undertaken numerous programs such as those with grants from the National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program), as well as key programs, major research plans, and creative research groups program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has long been dedicated to the research in tumor cell fate determination and the regulatory mechanism of tumor microenvironment, yielding fruitful results including over 200 papers published in pre-eminent international academic journals such as Cancer Cell, Nat Cell Biol, Nat Chem Biol, Nat Commun, Blood, Leukemia, etc. His papers have been cited over 15,000 times.
Chen has won many awards including the second prize of the State Natural Science Award, the first prize of Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the first prize of Shanghai Natural Science Award, the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the grand prize of Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award, and the Scientific and Technological Progress Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, China Youth Science and Technology Award, and Shanghai Natural Science Peony Award. He has also been bestowed many honorary titles including Young and Middle-aged Experts with Prominent Contributions of the Ministry of Health, National Advanced Worker, Shanghai Model Worker, and Ten Most Outstanding Young Persons of Shanghai.
