Dear young scholars,

Greetings from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine! We sincerely invite you to participate in the Precision Medicine Sub-Forum of 2022 International Young Scholars Cloud Forum of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Hosted by SJTUSM, and organized by the affiliated hospital, Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital and Shanghai Institute of Precision Medicine (“SHIPM”), it aims to build an online exchange platform for outstanding young scholars at home and abroad to track academic hotspots and discuss frontiers issues through “online report”, “online seminar”, “online negotiation” and other forms. It hopes to introduce and gather outstanding young innovative talents at home and abroad, and promote academic exchanges and cooperation in medicine.

I. Invitees

  • Under the age of 40, with a doctorate degree from a well-known university at home and abroad;

  • Domestic young scholars with overseas working experience of scientific research, or with strong scientific research strength and good potential in scientific research;

  • Research field in line with the discipline development direction of SJTUSM and SHIPM, including but not limited to the following research directions: stem cells and regenerative medicine, pathogenic microorganisms, reproduction and genetics and development, oncology and metabolic diseases, proteomics, cryo-electron microscopy structural biology, bioinformatics, and other research directions related to precision medicine.

II. Organizer

Shanghai Institute of Precision Medicine (“SHIPM”) is established to align with the goal of developing Shanghai into a science innovation center. It belongs to the Class-IV Peak Discipline Construction Project of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, led by SJTUSM and relied on Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, SJTUSM. Under the leadership of Researcher Lei Ming, the executive Chancellor, SHIPM has built a protein platform, an omics platform, an electron microscope platform, a biological imaging platform, a chemical biology platform, and a data computing and analysis platform and purchased a series of state-of-art equipment, including 45 sets of large-scale equipment worthy of more than 500,000, with a total value of over 210 million. Shanghai Municipal Education Commission plans to fund another 100 million for scientific research from 2021 to 2025. Currently, SHIPM has formed a scientific research team composed of young and middle-aged individual researchers. The team has comprehensively carried out scientific research and exploration in stem cell and regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, pathogenic microorganisms, reproduction and genetics and development, oncology and metabolic diseases, omics, structural biology, bioinformatics and other research fields closely related to precision medicine. Meanwhile, it has carried out extensive international cooperation and student exchange activities with Harvard Medical School, Yale School of Medicine and University of Michigan with a vision of becoming a global research base for precision medicine. III. Forum Chairman

Dr. Bing Su obtained his B.S. degree from Peking University in 1984 and his Ph.D. degree from Yale University in 1991. He did his postdoctoral training with Dr. Michael Karin at the University of California San Diego before starting his academic career in 1995 as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center where he was promoted to a tenured full Professor in 2006. He moved to Yale University in 2006 as a tenured faculty at the Department of Immunobiology until 2014 when he relocated to SJTU in China. Dr. Bing Su is now the Director of Shanghai Institute of Immunology and Chair of Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Co-Founding Director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine-Yale University Institute for Immune Metabolism (SYIIM) and an Adjunct Professor at Department of Immunobiology at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Su also holds a KC Wong Chair Professorship at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Dr. Su’s research focuses on the intracellular signal transduction pathways controlled by the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and the mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs). He studies the roles of these intracellular signaling cascades in immune regulation and vascular function. Dr. Su has published over 110 peer-reviewed papers, many of which were in high-impact journals such as Nature, Cell, Nature Genetics, Nature Immunology, Immunity, Molecular Cell, EMBO J, etc., with citation over 15000. His research has been supported from grants awarded by Ministry of National Science and Technology (Chief Scientist), as well as National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Shanghai Science and Technology Commission.

Dr. Su is a member of Chinese Biological Investigator Society and a member of Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America (SCBA). He served on many review committees including NIH Study Sections, the Review Committee for the Key Programs of NSFC, etc.  He is also the editor-in-chief of Current Immunology, and the associate editor of Journal of Molecular Cell Biology and Current Research in Immunology.
