To further align with the “Healthy China” strategy, accelerate the development ofaworld-class medical school and disciplines with Chinese characteristics, andtocreate a stronger academic atmosphere,SJTUSM heldthe second event of Master Forum Series, themed “Leading Development & Envisioning the Future” on October 22 at the lecture hall in Yide Building. ZHANG Yun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, HAN Yaling, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, HE Fuchu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and HAN Jiahuai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered their keynote speeches and shared with the audience theadvanced concepts and cutting-edge technologies, imparting the latest ideas about medical disciplinedevelopment in the new era, and looking into the trends of medicine.

FAN Xianqun, Chancellor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a welcome speech, expressing heartfelt thanks for the arrival of the four academicians. “What makes a good university is the amount and quality of Master it owns, instead of the amount and quality of buildings that stand.” The Master Forum Series is designed to allow all teachers and students to have more chances to learn from Master. This will give them the opportunity to approach, comprehend and learn from Master, eventually growing as a master by making strenuous efforts.

Academician ZHANG Yun gave a keynote speech titled “Research on Cardiovascular Remodeling and Function”, introducing three important scientific challenges in cardiovascular diseases, which arecommon threats of healthin the new century, with focus on the molecular mechanism of cardiovascular remodeling, the development of detection technologies, and the latest intervention strategies.

Academician HAN Yaling gave a keynote speech titled “New Progress in Clinical Research on Antithrombotic Drugs for Coronary Heart Diseases (CHD)”, focusing on a risk scoring system suitable for the Chinese CHD population, as well as the results of research on individualized antithrombotic treatment strategies that have been widely recognized and praised.

Academician HE Fuchu gave a keynote speech titled “From Precision Medicine to Smart Medicine”, introducing the development of proteomics and briefing the development from precision medicine represented by genomics to smart medicine represented by proteomics.

Academician HAN Jiahuai gave a keynote speech titled "Cytokines / Cell Death - Sepsis", introducing the pathogenesis / mortality mechanism of acute infections, as well as the latest discoveries and trends in this field.

After their speeches, the four academicians engaged in active interactions and communications with the teachers and students present, and answered the questions that they raised, all in a lively atmosphere on site.
