LIU Depei, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, LIU Liang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, LI Xiaokun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Wenzhou Medical University, and LIN Xihong, academician of the National Academy of Sciences, United States, delivered their keynote speeches, sharing with teachers and studentsthecutting-edge technologies and advanced methodologies, imparting the latest ideas about medical disciplinedevelopment in the new era, and looking into the trends of medical development.

FAN Xianqun,chancellor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a welcome speech, expressing heartfelt thanks for the arrival of the four academicians.“Tall buildings are easy toerect, but true masters are hard to find.” “What makes a good university is the masters it owns,who are dedicated to great studies and great education.” TheMaster Forum Serieson High Quality Discipline Development is designed to enhance high-level academic exchanges and prosperous medical education, and allow all teachers and students to meet masters on a regular basis. This will give them the opportunity to approach, learn from, and comprehend masters, and get inspired togrow as masters by pioneering the forefront of disciplines, climbing technological peaks, constantly pursuing excellence, and safeguarding the lives and health of the people.

Academician LIN Xihong gave a keynote speech titled“Challenges and Opportunities in Health Data Science in Biomedicine and Public Health”. She discussed the challenges and opportunities of biostatistics and health data in biomedicine and public health, and elaborated on the important significance of whole genome sequencing technology and biobanking data in research areas such as drug development, disease treatment, and intervention.

Academician LI Xiaokun gave a keynote speech titled“Research on Cell Growth Factor Tissue / Organ Regeneration and Life Activity Regulation”. He reviewed the development and transformation of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs), and demonstrated the important role and development prospects of FGFs in accelerating wound healing, promoting spinal cord injury repair, and regulating glucose and lipid metabolism.

Academician LIU Liang gave a keynote speech titled“Research on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Rheumatology by Integrating Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine”. He introduced the new mechanisms of rheumatism and new ways to overcome drug resistance in rheumatoid arthritis, and proposed the establishment of new strategies to regulate gut microbiota and lipid metabolism in the treatment of rheumatism, as well as new attempts to develop innovative drugs.

Academician LIU Depei gave a keynote speech titled“New Exploration of Graduate Education”. Based on his own research and teaching experience, he comprehensively analyzed and explored the model transformation and development trends of high-level medical talent cultivation in contemporary universities from eight aspects, including the mission of scientific innovation and common theoretical foundations.

After their speeches, the four academicians engaged in active interactions and communications with the teachers and students present, and answered the questions that they raised, all in a lively atmosphere on site.
