Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is now globally recruiting a dean of Institute of Rehabilitation. The Institute, under the dean’s leadership, aims to serve the Healthy China strategy, guarantee and improve people's livelihood. Focusing on the national overall health strategy, the Institute will deepen collaboration between school and enterprises in the medical field, making its contribution to a high-quality development of medical education and clinical research.
1. About the Institute of Rehabilitation
The Institute aims at developing a world-class research institute on medical rehabilitation, and focuses on research collaboration and practices in terms of talent development,medical treatment, education, scientific research, transformation of medical researches, international exchanges, resource integration and sharing.
The Institute will set technical R&D as the pillar, focus on developing rehabilitation clinical disciplines, and carry out basic and applied research on rehabilitation medicine. The Institute conducts cross-disciplinary researches, and combines the strength of medicine and engineering, thus devoting to the R&D and translational work that leans to clinical practice. In this way it will enhance the integration of industry, education and research. The Institute explores a “treatment-rehabilitation” mechanism, deepens the collaboration with affiliated hospitals, brings in and cultivates high-level talents from the globe, gives full support to young outstanding teachers and researchers, builds a platform for gathering leaders in rehabilitation disciplines, and creates a high-level base for science, education, research, and medical training.
2. Job description and requirements
1) Job description
A. The dean is responsible for the overall medical treatment, education, scientific research, transformation of medical researches, international exchanges, resource integration and sharing, and administration. The dean prioritizes developing strategy of the Institute and focuses on building a world-class institute and its internationalization. During the dean’s term, there should be a significant improvement of the institute on research, discipline development and international influences.
B.The dean is responsible for developing the Institutes’ talent team. Under the dean’s leadership, there should be an enhancement of overall faculty strength, increase of high-level experts introduced to and trained by the Institute, and a platform built for gathering discipline leaders that meets the developing needs of the Institute.
2) Job requirements
A. Good political accomplishment and overall development vision; dedicated, reliable and responsible; strong team work spirit; mentally and physically healthy; and can work full-time.
B. Good knowledge of the higher education and talent cultivation; an international academic vision, forward-looking academic thoughts and good skills to lead, communicate and coordinate; ability to realize sustainable development of the College and build first-class college and disciplines.
C. An education background on medicine, life science, nursing or majors related to medicine, with outstanding academic achievements in the field. International applicants shall hold an academic title of associate professor or above at a prestigious university, or hold certain positions at international renowned research institutes. Domestic applicants shall hold a doctoral degree, senior professional title(s) and the eligibility to supervise doctoral students. Preferred candidates are those with one of the following conditions: 1) academician of CAS or CAE, or national high-level expert; 2) having published original or pacesetting paper(s) on life science and medicine in top or authoritative journals as a corresponding author; 3) having undertaken national major projects on science and technology, national key research and development projects, or NSFC key and major projects, major research plans (with major support), and key international (regional) cooperative research projects, etc.
