Yaqian Xu is an assistant professor in the School of Global Health at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. at Tongji University in China and realized her post-doctorate at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (RCEES, CAS) and the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). She was also a joint Ph.D. in the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Dr. Xu is a recipient of the Doctoral Research National Scholarship and National Construction of High-Level University Public Graduate Project. She has served as a member in multiple organizations, including European Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), Chinese Society of Toxicology, and Chinese Chemical Society. The overarching objective of her research is to evaluate the environmental health risks posed by pollutants to organisms and humans, and devises strategies to control pollution and minimize exposure.

Research Interests and Expertise
Dr. Xu's research is to evaluate the environmental health risks posed by pollutants to organisms and humans. Via using interdisciplinary research methods such as environmental chemistry, ecology, and epidemiology to clarify the distribution of emerging pollutants in both the environment and humans, evaluate the ecological and health risks of pollutants and their mixtures, explore crucial risk factors, and devises strategies to control pollution and minimize exposure.
