Brief Introduction
Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) was formerly known as Shanghai Second Medical College, which came into being through a merger of St. John’s University School of Medicine (1896-1952), Aurora University School of Medicine (1911-1952), and Tongde Medical College (1918-1952) in the nationwide reorganization of universities in 1952 and changed its name to Shanghai Second Medical University in 1985. In July 2005, Shanghai Second Medical University merged with Shanghai Jiao Tong University to establish a new key medical school, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, under the joint jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Shanghai municipal government. SJTUSM has 25 secondary schools (departments) and 12 affiliated hospitals. There are 8 disciplines authorized to offer doctoral degrees and 4 disciplines to offer postdoctoral programs, which cover Biology, Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine and Stomatology. In 2019, SJTUSM passed the certification of the Clinical Medicine program by the Ministry of Education at a high level of quality. It was the only university in China that was inspected by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) expert group and was highly praised by both foreign and Chinese experts.

The School of Global Health, Chinese Center for Tropical Diseases Research, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SGH) was established in Shanghai on June 16, 2019. The SGH is a sub-school under the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, which is co-sponsored by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and the Chinese Center for Tropical Diseases Research.
The SGH strives to build a world-class global health educational institution and a leading research platform on global health in Asia Pacific region. The mission of SGH is to promote the development of medical talents with global vision and to bring-up future leaders on global health governance. By advancing global health discipline, SGH contributes Chinese wisdom in the building of the community with a shared future of human health. SGH focuses its research on tropical diseases and infectious diseases, global health policies and standards, maternal and child health, nutrition and food safety, and mental health. The priority research field is one health, where SGH pays attention to the relevance and intersection of humans, animals and environment. Therefore, by building a cross-regional education institution on global health and an international exchange center facilitated by trans-disciplines and cross-sectors scholars, the SGH is to be a gathering venue with the first-class specialists at home and abroad, and a talent highland of international scholars. Relying on the co-construction units, it has established academic exchange relations with more than 70 academic institutions in more than 30 countries. 4. One health governance and health policy research: Laws, regulations and policy system, Bio-safety protection of one health, One health communication and health behavior promotion;
5. Research on decision support system (DSS) of one health driven by big data.
